Only a few days remain to get your next submission in. Submissions close on 24 September.
Submissions are open now and close at 5:00pm on Thursday 24 September 2026. Anyone can submit. If you already submitted in late 2025, that submission still counts. You only need to submit again if you want to make a different comment on the updated maps and rules Council approved in July 2026, or to submit if you did not lodge a submission on the original PC120.

You can lodge a personal submission on your property, or one that supports the Special Character Areas (SCA) being included, or both.
We lodged a wider group submission for Special Character across Auckland in early 2026. Our group submissionis important, but it does not replace a personal submission on your own property. The hearings panel works from maps and provisions. The Coalition submission argues for the SCA overlay as a whole. Only you can say, in your own name, what is proposed for your house, your neighbours’ houses, and your street, and what decision you want for those sites. One named property, with a clear request, is often more powerful than another general paragraph about character.
Do both. Support the Coalition case, and lodge your own submission on your property.
The City Builderis a free webpage calledDraft your Submission.It helps you turn what you know about your street into a clear submission. You answer a short survey, about ten to fifteen minutes, and it drafts the text for you. You then copy that text into Council’s official form. Nothing you type is stored on their server. This is only a drafting helper. Your submission is lodged only when you send it through Council’s website, AK Have Your Say
The hearings panel already has more than 10,000 first round submissions. The comments they can use most easily point to a place, a rule, and a change.Draft your submissionsteers you toward those things: your address or the properties next to you, the proposed zone or building height or overlay including Special Character and the decision you want, for example keeping the Special Character overlay on these properties, or lowering the proposed height of buildings around you.
That is particularly useful because the panel can match your point to a map and a provision. Special Character still matters. In planning terms it works best when you name the streets and properties and say clearly that the overlay should stay.
Follow these steps to make a submission
1. OpenDraft your submission,
2. Find your ward, then check Council’s official map from the same page.
3. Search your address first.(Note the proposed height or zone, and see whether Special Character or a flood overlay still applies).
4. Take a screenshot if you can.
5. Run the survey in everyday language.
6. Paste the draft into the official form
7. Add your name and address
8. Submit before 5:00pm on 24 September.
By law, submitter names and addresses are published. Tick that you wish to be heardonlyif you are willing to speak at a hearing later. Council also offers a freeFriend of Submitter serviceto help people use the maps and understand the process. They do not write your submission or tell you what position to take.
Individual submissions that name different streets add local evidence rather than replace the Coalition submission. You do not need legal language. You do need to identify your property, or the block around it, and make a clear request. Please do not leave it until the last afternoon, as the online form can get busy near the deadline.
